We provide health care services to Medicare beneficiaries, and other qualifying patients, who have difficulty leaving home safely and meet the necessary requirements set by Medicare.

Will my insurance cover home based primary care?

Accepted Answer

Patients who meet the qualifications for home health care services can have the cost of services covered by Medicare. Medicare covers home health care as it would a doctor’s office visit—80% (of the allowed amount) and the remaining 20% is either billed to the patient’s secondary insurance or is the patient’s responsibility. Private insurances have their own separate qualifications and coverage limits vary depending on the policy elected.

Yes we do accept self paying patients. We also accept private or commercial insurances.

We are currently able to provide housecalls to homebound patients living throughout Anchorage

Can I keep my primary care provider?

Accepted Answer

No - in order to prevent redundant or conflicting care, your Akins Mobile Health provider will serve as the only designated Primary Care Provider (PCP). However, we will coordinate with all other providers and specialists to ensure that your PCP has a complete understanding of your medical history and that there are no gaps in care.

How often are patients seen by the primary care provider?

On average, patients are seen once every 4-6 weeks. Our providers leave open scheduled time to perform care coordination (managing medications, communicating with family and specialists, etc) and to see their patients for urgent needs.
